"In the mid 1990s Wellman International Limited undertook to replace the Control System on its Weighing and Batching Plant. IPCE were chosen as System integrators for this project. The System supplied was based on a Mitsubishi PLC interfaced to Intellution Scada as well as a link to our Management accounts software. In the following years IPCE have been supplying tailor made solutions to Wellman International Limited throughout our Plant :
Extrusion
Complete control of Spinning process air dryer, extrusion, temperature control, metering feeders, air quencing, and take-up.
Finishing
Production line control, syncronised speed control of DC and AC motors.
Energy reduction
Installed VSDs These will automatically reduce to a standby speed when demand reduces.
Hardware
These systems are based on the Mitsubishi Q series PLC. Communication from PLC to VSDs is by CC Link and communication to Control Techniques DC and AC Drives is by Profibus. Operator interface is via Computer keyboard.
Plant viewing
Selected PLCs are connected to our Plant SCADA via Ethernet. Plant status can be monitored various locations throughout the site.
Remote connection
All PLCs are connected to a common server which can be viewed by IPCE from their own Office.
